OCTOBER

October 1st - As mentionned earlier in July, Selectronic finally launched a new project and managed to design an add-on digital input stage for the DCX2496 which should be now called a... DCX24192 ! Indeed, Selectronic has implemented a new digital input input board with the following objectives in mind :

All of this is extremely promising and I encourage you to check the french version of this new tweak by clicking here . When time allows I will translate the page in english.

July

July 18th , 2007 -It has been quite a while since I have updated the english pages. Sorry for being late on the site's translation but professional workload didn't allow to focus on this job. Though, today I have an occasion to mention a well known bug in the Sampling Rate Converter (SRC) chip that Behringer used in the DCX2496. This bug has been described by the chip manufacturer in this document. I can only encourage you to read carefully it's chapter 11 which is titled "System and applications issues". This sentence says it all : "Sometimes the CS8420 SRC will enter an invalid state". In a few words, due to the chip's faulty design, the DCX2496 will sometimes behave strangely, very much like if it was faulty or damaged : frightening loud pops in the loudspeakers, weird sound like "frying bacon". All of this is down to the dreaded CS8420 chip. I am working on a project to improve this situation. Meanwhile the only solution consists either in rebooting your DCX (this will actualy reboot the CS840 as advised by Cirrus) or alternatively use any lower sampling rate but 24bits/96KHz from your digital source. Stay tuned !

May

May 1st , 2007 - RTFM (stands for Read the F...ing Manual). I thought it would be useful to read the DCX2496's Frequently Asked Questions before returning your unit to the store. It's here, it's published by Behringer and it's really worth reading.

December 10th, 2006 - Ho ho ho I have decided to start translating the site, page after page. Oh my god, I didn't realize there were so many pages to be translated ! So be patient please, this is really time consuming and like all of us I have a real life in the real world - add to this the fact that english is not my native language, hence the probable mistakes...
